Obituary of Wanda Johnson

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our matriarch, Lucy Wanda Johnson (née Norman) on February 13, 2025 at Labrador West Health Centre at the far too young age of 71. Wanda was predeceased by her parents Ray and Jenny Norman; in-laws Abram and Mary Johnson; siblings Daphne (Doug), Margaret, Avelina and Ernest; sibling in-laws Patricia (Gates), Selina (George), Mary, Frank and Judy; nieces and nephew Joanne, Katharine and Jonathan. Left to mourn with broken hearts, the love of her life, Jim (married 1974); daughters Cynthia (Paul), Christa and Candace (Paul); her beloved Maggie doodle; grandchildren Hannah, Sierra and Declan; siblings Betty (Cal), Jim (Midge), Perry (Gilda), George (Louise); in-laws Charles, Bill, Marion, Dave, Maureen, Peter, Don; along with a massive amount of nieces, nephews, cousins and too many friends to count. It is nearly impossible to put into words the magic that she was. She had an infectious smile that could light up any room and holds the distinction of being the easiest person to love in this world. Mom had too many hobbies in her life to list them all, but by far favourite pastime was doting on her precious grandchildren, who were the absolute lights of her life. She could cook a scoff better than a 5 star chef filling many a belly, and loved a good game of cards. Ever the honest person, if she thought it, she said it and if she said it, she meant it but always loved without judgement. Affectionately known to many as Momma J, to be in her presence was a privilege. She wielded forgiveness like a super power, stubbornness like a champion, and expressed kindness like a rockstar. She was our North Star that led us home and the supreme compass of our lives. Her legacy is far greater than these words, and while we are left in a million little pieces without her, she will always be the glue that binds us together. We will now find her in rainbows, butterflies, whispering winds, and everything, everywhere, all at once. Until we meet again, “Goodnight, Love you, See you tomorrow”. Funeral service for Wanda will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at Glad Tidings Pentecostal Church in Labrador City with Pastor Shannon Meade officiating. The funeral service will be live streamed from Temple's Funeral Home Facebook page.
