Rebecca Marguerite Squire
January 4, 1937- February 18, 2025
It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announced the passing of our beloved mother, Rebecca (Beccie) Squire, at the age of 88 years. She passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on Tuesday February 18, 2025.
Predeceased by her husband Albert; mother Eliza- ann Bradley; brother Tom Lane; father John Lane; stepfather James Bradley and her grandson Stephen Squire.
Leaving to mourn are her children, Debbie (Rob), Della (Reg), Donna, Bert (Marylou), Billy (Corinna) and Tommy (Joanie); her grandchildren Michael (Kristen), Matthew (Emily), Jamie, Jeffrey (Sara), Julia (David), Jaden, Coleman, Sam, Victoria, Meghan; all of her great grandchildren whom she dearly loved; her extended family and her circle of dear friends.
Rebecca was born in Salvage, Bonavista Bay, NL. She moved to Eastport where she met her husband and built their first home to start a family. They moved their family to Wabush in 1966 to start their journey. She loved her family dearly. Nothing mattered more to her than her children. She devoted her life to ensure they never went without. Her love and everlasting devotion to them was second to none.
Mom was a devoted Christian who joined the church choir as a young girl. Her sense of humour and laughter was infectious. She loved her music, especially playing her accordion. Mom was involved in the drama club in Labrador City where she met many of her friends. Her free spirit, generosity and kindness was a breath of fresh air to all of those fortunate enough to meet her.
Cremation will be taking place and a celebration of life and service will be held in the spring of 2025.
We wish to thank from the bottom of our hearts all of Mom’s amazing nurses and team of doctors who treated our mother with the utmost of care, professionalism, compassion and dignity during her stay at St. Clare’s Hospital.
Donations in mom’s memory can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
