Obituary of Allen George Thompson

February 15, 1940 – September 26, 2025 Fell peacefully asleep and woke up in the arms of Jesus It is with great sadness that the family of the late Allen George Thompson announce his passing on Friday, September 26, 2025 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital in Gander, at the age of 85. He will be forever loved and missed by the love of his life, his wife of 62 years, Shelia; daughters Alana (John), Paula (Byron), Tina, and Shawna (Robert); grandchildren Heather, Aaron (Maryam), Kylie (Brandon), Brittany, Amiee (Sheldon), Dylan, Cody, Timothy and Daniel (Alexa); great-grandchildren Aria, Zachariah and Antonius. Also left to mourn are sisters Florence (Byron), and Ethel, Joan (David), Vera, and Kay (David), brothers Bryce (Jean), Hubert (Lill), Leonard (Bernice), and Joe, brothers-in-law Allan (Millie), Harvey (Leona), Don (Joan), Randy (Mabel), Larry (Elaine), Kevin, sisters-in-law Marion, Sylvia (Art), Beulah and Rosalind (Tim), and large circle of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, family and friends. Allen was predeceased by Baby Aaron, parents Gordon and Georgina Randell, parents-in-law James and Gladys Squires, sister Laura Sheppard, and brothers-in-law Cyril Squires, Gene Selig and Nate Hayward. Visitation for family and friends will take place at The Salvation Army Labrador West Community Church at 423 Bartlett Drive on Wednesday, October 1 from 7 to 9 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held there on Thursday, October 2 at 2 p.m., with Majors Reid and Phyllis Colbourne officiating. Interment to follow. The service will be live streamed from Temple's Funeral Home Facebook page. Donations in Allen’s memory can be made to The Salvation Army Labrador West Community Church, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Special thanks to Dr. Nahabet and nurses at James Paton Memorial Hospital, the Palliative Home Care team, and the staff at the Palliative Care ward for their excellent care during these past two weeks, as well as Stacey’s Funeral Home in Gander, and Temple’s Funeral Home for your professional care and service during these difficult days.
