Obituary of Ted Wareham
It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Hedley “Ted” Wareham announce his passing at the Labrador Health Center on October 27, 2025 with his loving family by his side.
Left to mourn are his wife Beverley of 58 years, daughter Dionne (Stephen), son Jamie (Angela), grandchildren Destiny (Julien), Devlin (Gabby), Jordan, Felicity and Willis, great grandchildren Daisy and Sage, his sister Norma, brother-in-law Ed (Irvene), nieces Terri and Tracy, nephew Todd, and a large circle of other relatives and friends.
Ted was predeceased by his parents Hedley and Ruby (Pinsent) Wareham, In-laws Gordon and Jessie (Ryan) Curtis, sister-in-law Sherry, brother-in-law George, and his infant son.
Ted was born in Buchan’s Hospital and moved to Corner Brook as a young boy. He grew up on Batten’s Road where he met his lifelong friend Jim Ryan. He also met the love of his life Beverley in high school, and she moved to Labrador City with him in 1966 where they settled and raised their family. In 1962 Ted came to Labrador City to work with Lundrigan’s on the hospital, he then returned in 1964 after going to trade school and worked as a Field Mechanic on the ATO in IOCC until he retired 36 years later at the age of 55. Over this time his thirst for knowledge grew with continuing education for work, the countless books he read, and in later years articles on the internet.
Ted could be found any time between May and October on the golf course with his buddies Joe or Peter, and other friends, and loved it so much he even spent the last couple of seasons helping with the grass. We aren’t really sure if he liked the riding lawn mower or the golf more, but he enjoyed it to the fullest. The fall seasons he would go moose hunting with Frankie, and in the summer he would try his hand at catching a fish with Mark, or Tony and Peter.
Ted was a true gentleman who will be missed by many. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the nurses on the Acute Care ward, especially Megan and Caitlyn who were so kind during his short stay in hospital, as well as Dr Poonhan, Dr Jafar, Dr Jude and Dr Costello. As per Ted’s wishes cremation has taken place and there will be a private family service taking place graveside. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in his honor to either of the two organizations that were close to his heart, The Labrador City Lions Club or The Labrador West Food Bank.
