Obituary of Murray Joseph Alfred Jones
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Murray Jones, a beloved father, son, brother, uncle, and friend who left us far too soon on November 14th, 2025, at the age of 57.
Born and raised in Lourdes-de Blanc-Sablon, QC. Murray carried with him the warmth, humor, and heart of his hometown everywhere he went. In 2015 Murray and his beautiful family made Labrador City their home, where he built a life filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Murray was a man who loved deeply. His family, work family, his friends and his sweet dogs were at the very center of his world. He had a special gift for bringing people together, knowing just how to make anyone laugh, sometimes even through tears. He was a man of many talents, a remarkable cook, a master storyteller, and someone who would scare you half to death one moment and have you laughing the next. Above all, Murray had a way of touching hearts even in the briefest encounter, he left a lasting impression.
Those who knew him, will remember his big personality, his quick wit, and his kind heart. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. We love you forever.
Murray will be forever missed by his loving wife, Nicole Downey; daughter Kayden; stepdaughter Gabirelle Downey; stepson Tristin Downey; grandchildren Jersey Penney, and Kinsley Penney; Mother Elizabeth Jones; brothers David Jones (Melita), Randy Jones, Dominique Jones; sisters Elsie (Terrence Barney), and Brenda Jones; sisters-in-law Vanessa, Robyn and Junita.
Murray was predeceased by his father Alfred Jones; mother-in-law Abbie Downey; father-in-law Francis Downey; sister Anges Bolger; and baby brother Marc Jones.
Family and friends may visit from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 7:00pm-9:00pm on Friday November 21st, 2025, at Temple's Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, November 22nd, 2025, at Glad Tidings Pentecostal Church in Labrador City. The service will be live streamed from Temple’s Funeral Home Facebook page. Everyone is welcomed to join the family for refreshments after the serives. Social gathering will be held in the basement of the Glad Tiding Church immediately after the service. Murray's final resting place will be along side his father, Alfred Jones, in Lourdes-de Blanc Sablon, QC.
As and expression of sympathy a donation can be made to Faith's Haven animal shelter or Mission Kitty in Murray's memory. The family would like to send special thanks to paramedics, Dr. Duah, the nurses and hospital staff. Your care and kindness will never be forgotten.
