Obituary of Fay Elizabeth Gwendolyn Abercrombie
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Fay Abercrombie of Wabush on December 7, 2025.
Born Fay Elizabeth Gwendolyn Thomas in Quebec in 1939, Fay, her husband, Richard, and children moved to Wabush in 1961 as one of the town’s original “pioneer families.” Fay was known for her quick wit, infectious smile, Quebecois pride and contributions to the community through local sports, sea cadets, the Wabush Legion and more. Up until her passing, she was one of oldest living Pioneers of the Town of Wabush.
Fay is predeceased by her husband Richard Best Abercrombie and son Richard Thomas Abercrombie (Kim), and survived by her daughters Debbie Strickland (Herb), Sue Marshall (Brian), Nikki Abercrombie (Paul), grandchildren Brad, Herb, Sheri, Kellan, Brittiney, Crystal, Kyle, Sydney, Carter, and her beloved great grandchildren Melody, AJ, Aaliyah, Maeve, Clark, Asher, and Reid.
A celebration of life and private burial will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the team at the Labrador West Health Centre and members of our local community for their love and support.
