Obituary of Stephen Francis Strang
It is with heavy and broken hearts that the family of the late Stephen Strang announce his passing on January 15, 2026, at the age of 69. Steve left this world surrounded by the family he cherished so dearly and left behind him a legacy of unmatched kindness, hard work and unconditional love.
Steve was born in Lawn, NL, on the Burin Peninsula, where he met his wife Heather and started a family. In the mid 90's, he relocated his family to Wabush to provide the best life for those he loved. He worked primarily at Wabush Mines, where his knowledge was both respected and happily shared with decades of co-workers.
Steve loved fixing things, building anything he set his mind to while singing along to Newfie music, and quiet early mornings with a cup of tea watching his garden grow. He clearly cherished his family. He would always light up when sharing stories about his childhood. He looked forward every year to his trip to NL to see his brothers, sisters and friends, and to stock up on fish. Most of all he loved taking care of his wife, daughters and grandson; always a step ahead, always doing whatever he could. Thoughtful gestures, giving and providing were second nature to him.
Steve touched countless lives with his genuine caring ways, his quick wit and his eagerness to help anyone and everyone. He was a force of nature, a jack of all trades, salt of the earth, a true one of a kind. He will be so sorely and dearly missed.
Left to mourn with a lifetime of beautiful and precious memories are his wife Heather Strang (Pike); daughters Ashleigh Strang and Chasity Strang; grandson Drew Elliott; brothers Emmanuel Strang (Alice), James Strang (Lorraine), George Strang and Winston Strang; sister Ruth Drake (Andrew); mother-in-law Helen Pike; sisters-in-law Viola Deazley (Doug), Ruby Morgan Strang and Barb Strang; brothers-in-law Jim Pike Pam) and Wade Pike (Renita); as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Steve was predeceased by parents Rosalie Brockerville and George Strang; sisters Ruby Strang and Lenora Mackey; brothers Carl Strang, Alonzo Strang, Thomas Strang, Andrew Strang and Ferdinand Strang; brother-in-law Wallace Pike; sister-in-law Elizabeth Strang; and father-in-law Edgar Pike.
Special thanks to the doctors and acute care nursing staff at the Labrador West Health Center for their warm and professional care and to special friend, Guy Tobin, who was at his side almost daily for the last two months.
As per Stevens request, cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, January 23, 2026 at the Catholic Church in Wabush with Father Joy officiating. The service will be live streamed on Temple's Funeral Home facebook page.
