Obituary of Franklin Howard Manstan
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Franklin Manstan announce his passing on May 8th, 2026, at the age of 82.
Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife of 59 years, Dianne Manstan; son Justin Manstan; brother Doug (Gean) Manstan; sister-in-law Maxine Stanley; close friends Dr. "Bom" (Tom) Costello, and Sean Boozan; Joe Walsh, who visited faithfully every week; Vanessa Harnett and Karen Burke who were like daughters to Frank; Denise McCann, who Frank referred to as "The Walking Angel"; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Frank was predeceased by his parents Howard & Marjorie Manstan; brother Gord Manstan; and in-laws Margetta and Chester Powers.
Friends and family may visit from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Temple's Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 13th,2026. Funeral service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, May 14th, 2026, at The Labrador West Salvation Army Community Church with Major Reid Colbourne and Major Phyllis Blundell-Colbourne officiating. The funeral service will be lived streamed from Temples Funeral Home Facebook page. Frank's final resting place will be Mount Pleasant Cemetery in St. John's, NL, near where he grew up. As an expression of sympathy, donations can be made to the Grenfell Foundation (Labrador West Chapter) in Frank's memory. Donation cards are available at Temple's Funeral Home.
Frank was born and raised in St. John's Newfoundland, which is also where he became a pharmacist. It wasn't until 1967 that he moved to Labrador City with his wife Dianne and raised their son Justin. Frank was well known in the community, not only for his business adventures but also for his continuous help behind the scenes over the years. Frank loved his family and friends dearly, but was whole heartily known for being the "Best Dad" as Justin would say.
The family would like to send special thanks to all the departments of the Labrador West Health Center, especially his close friend, Dr. "Bom" Costello, everyone’s care and compassion during Frank's stay did not go unnoticed. Also, special thanks to Major Reid Colbourne and Major Phyllis Blundell-Colbourne for helping the family navigate through this difficult time, to Denise for being our "Walking Angel", and to everyone who has reached out during this difficult time.
