Obituary of Gervase Raymond Doyle

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gerry Doyle announce his passing on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at the Labrador Health Center in Happy Valley Goose Bay at the age of 80. Left to mourn with many wonderful memories are his loving wife of 59 years, Sadie; children Betty (Dave) Doyle-Matthews, G. (Denise) Doyle, and Diana Doyle; grandchildren Sara (Jeffery) Manstan, Gervase Doyle, David Matthews, Adam Bridger, Zoey Bridger, and Ryan Smith; great-grandchildren Jack, Stevie, and Rocky; brothers Clar Doyle, Pat Doyle, Jerry Doyle, Bernie Doyle, and Jimmy Doyle; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Gerry was predeceased by his parents Gerald & Margaret; sister Mary-Ellen; and brother Jerome. Gerry was born and raised in Avondale, NL until 1966 when he made his way to Labrador where he met the love of his life. Sadie and Gerry were married March 3rd, 1967, and Gerry began his career as pocket operator at The Iron Ore Company of Canada. He was known for his love of many things such as fishing, berry picking, softball, a game of cards and more; however what he loved most was his family and friends. Gerry was known as a social butterfly who was active, always on the go, and cared deeply for all those who knew him. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8pm on Thursday, May 14th, 2026, at Temple's Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society in Gerry's memory. Special thanks to Dr. O'Dea in Happy Valley Goose Bay, as well as the nursing staff in Happy Valley Goose Bay and Labrador West Hospitals for the care and compassion shown to Gerry and his family during his time there. A special thank you to Robin Ghariv (his nurse in LTC), Charlotte Rideout, Stephanie Atkins (both are security at Labrador West hospital) for continually going above and beyond and treating dad like family.
