Obituary of Donald James O'Keefe
It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Donald James O'Keefe announce his passing on May 27, 2026, at his home in Labrador City with his family at his side.
Left to mourn with many cherished memories are his wife Paula; children Craig O'Keefe (Carla), Tyler Bixby (Jillian); grandchildren Michael O'Keefe, Emily O'Keefe, Jamielynn Bixby, Mya Bixby and Leland Bixby; brothers Tom O’Keefe (Edna), Jimmy O’Keefe (Karen), Tony O’Keefe (Gail), Brian O’Keefe (Rhonda), Sean O’Keefe (Denise) and Peter O’Keefe; sister Leanne Riley (Jim); in-laws Caville and Guy Bixby; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other family and fiends. Don was predeceased by his parents James and Genevieve O'Keefe and brother Eddy O’Keefe.
Don faced his short battle with cancer with the most courage and strength, never once wavering in his faith. He longed to be with Jesus knowing he would be free of his pain and suffering. He was the best husband of 25 years to his wife Paula, who he adored everyday. His love for his family was evident in every moment he spent with them. His grandchildren Michael, Emily, Jamielynn, Mya, and Leland were his pride and joy who he loved and cherished unconditionally. Although we have to carry on without Don, we have the great hope that we will meet again on that heavenly shore. We love you.
Funeral service for Don will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday May 31, 2026, at Glad Tidings Pentecostal Church with Pastor Shannon Meade officiating. Funeral service will be live streamed from Temple's Funeral Home Facebook page.
We would like to thank Ronnie Alexander, Dr. Tom Costello and the oncology department at the Labrador West Health Center for your love and compassion shown to us throughout Don's cancer journey. To our angel nurse Melanie Winsor who made Don's final wishes a reality to stay at home receiving the best care surrounded by his family who he loved wholeheartedly. To Temple's Funeral Home, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for walking us through this difficult season. The O’Keefe & Bixby families would also like to thank everyone for your many acts of kindness, love and encouragement throughout these pass few months. The many phone calls, texts and visits we received, we will forever be grateful.
Revelation 21:4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.
