Obituary of Steadman Wilson Dicks

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Steadman Dicks announce his passing on August 16, 2023, at his home in Labrador City at the age of 81. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife Linda; children Karen (Blair), Kathy (Craig), Daren, and Bobbilynn (Phil); grandchildren Kaitlyn (Brandon), Kelsey (Brayden), Lindsay, Jeremy, Jessica, and Ashley; great-grandchild Kori; sisters Rae, Trudy (Keith), and Marina; special buddies Max, Lily and Dax; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Stead was predeceased by his father Ray Dicks and mother Lilian Newman. Stead lived a very full life, starting off at a very young age out on his own. He began working & providing for himself, later providing for the family that he started. He started his career journey in Labrador in Churchill Falls working at the power station, later traveling to Labrador City to work with the Iron Ore Company of Canada, then on to working for the provincial government before opening his own business, Grenfell Electric where he worked up until the day he passed. Stead worked to live, and he lived to work but that didn’t mean family didn’t come first. Every waking minute was dedicated to providing a good stable life for the ones he loved. Although he had a strange way of showing his love at times we all could feel it through the early morning phone calls, late night conversations & the sweat he put into every single day working, not to vacation or live a life of luxury but for the simple satisfaction of knowing his family was okay. A long & full life lived but this day is one many of us never thought would come. We can take comfort in knowing there was no suffering at the end & that his final moments were spent in a house he built with his own two hands & surrounded with a few of the people he loved most in this world. Now we will send him off surrounded with friends & family the way he wanted every day to be spent. We love you. Friends and family may visit from 7:00-9:00pm on Monday, August 21, 2023, at Temple's Funeral Home. The family would like to send a special thank you to all who have called, sent messages, flowers, and food during this difficult time. Your thoughtfulness will never be forgotten.
