Obituary of David Laird Olmstead

It is with great sadness that the family and friends of the late David Olmstead announce his passing on Friday, June 14, 2024, at the age of 73. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories ae his partner, Rose Tucker; children, Andrew and Eve; grandchildren, Laura, Leddy, Melody, & A.J.; brother Doug; sisters Linda and Sharon; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. David was predeceased by his parents Doug and Helen (Lena) Olmstead; brother, Charlie; sister, Patricia (Trish); and nephew Douglas. David's family moved to Wabush in August of 1964. He went to school at J.R Smallwood and joined sea cadets at the age of 17. He started work at Wabush Mines in 1970. He had survived a terrible fall while working at the mine. Throughout his life he has had several accidents but was never one to complain and took things as they came. David played darts and bowling and had won several trophies in both sports. David's partner, Rose, moved to Wabush in 1977 and together they raised their children Andrew and Eve, along with their four grandchildren. David had 38 years of sobriety. He enjoyed going to his meeting. A special thank you to all the members of AA, the staff at the Labrador West Hospital, Temple's Funeral Home, Father Joy and staff.
