Obituary of Hayward George Sheppard
It is with great sadness that the family and friends of the late Hayward Sheppard announce his passing on Friday, July 12, 2024 at the age of 78. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife of 58 years Jean (née Hart); children Deanne, Michael (Shelley) and Dayna (John); Pop’s Girls Jenna (Matthew), Maria, Amber Jean, Parker-Rae and Karley; sister Ada Rowe as well as a large circle of in-laws, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Hayward was predeceased by his parents Steward and Alva Sheppard; brother Ronald Sheppard; parents-in-law Heber and Marie Hart; brothers-in-law Ivan Dunford, Jack Hart, Guy Hart and Lewis Rowe; sister-in-law Cecilia Hart; nieces Rebecca Cole and Neysa Mills.
Thank you to everyone who visited, sent messages of support and prayed for our family during this difficult time. A special thank you to the staff of James Paton Memorial Hospital for their care during our stay in Gander, Mr. Stephen Hunter of Labrador West Health Centre for his involvement in bringing Hayward home, the Long-Term Care staff of LWHC for their exceptional care and support, Fillatre’s Funeral Home in Goose Bay for keeping him safe during the evacuation and Temple's Funeral Home for going above and beyond for our family. Everyone’s kindness, compassion and professionalism will be remembered forever.
Visitaion will take place from 7:00-9:00pm on Tuesday July 30th, 2024 at The Salvation Army Labrador West Community Church. Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at The Salvation Army Labrador West Community Church. The service will be live-streamed from Temple's Funeral Home Facebook page. Interment to follow at the Labrador West Interfaith Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to The Salvation Army.
